Lexington is a Davidson County, North Carolina city, and it also serves as the county seat. This city is found in the central portion of the state, about 20 miles south of Winston-Salem, and it has a population of roughly 19,000 residents. Along with nearby Thomasville, Lexington has slowly been developing into a residential bedroom community for Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem. However, the community itself is home to several large employers, including Kimberly-Cark, Roehrig Engineering, and Arneg USA.

Lexington refers to itself as the state’s barbeque capital. Each year it hosts the Lexington Barbecue Festival, which is one of the largest street festivals in al of North Carolina. This festival celebrates the numerous area barbeque restaurants with hundreds of vendors, and as many as 160,000 people visit each year.

In addition to its festivals, Lexington is also home to a variety of other interesting things to see and do. Wine enthusiasts may enjoy a visit to one of the numerous vineyards and wineries, including Childress VineyardWeathervane Winery, and Junius Lindsay Vineyards. There are several unique destinations for art enthusiasts, such as the Bob Timberland Gallery and Museum and Missions Pottery. Other notable attractions include the Davidson County Historical Museum and the Richard Childress Racing Museum and Gift Shop.

Lexington is located between the Mid-Atlantic coast and the Appalachian Mountains, and it is known for its humid subtropical climate zone. During autumn and spring, the region has moderate temperatures, but thunderstorms are common. Hot summers are also the norm, and average high temperatures in July, the hottest month, reach an average of 89 degrees.
